THE MUDGEE RAILWAY STATION
Art and Crafts Mudgee is proudly located in the beautifully restored Mudgee Railway Station—an iconic building steeped in local history.
Opened in 1884, the station played a vital role in connecting Mudgee to the wider region and beyond. Though trains no longer run, the building remains a cherished piece of heritage and a symbol of community connection.
Today, this unique setting offers the perfect backdrop for showcasing the work of local artists—where the charm of yesteryear meets the creativity of today.
our vision
To connect local artists with those who value the beauty of handmade,
and to foster a thriving artistic culture within our region.
How a small studio grew into a local artisan hub
Art and Crafts Mudgee began as Mandurah Studio—a name meaning “trading place.” It was founded in 1987 by a group of local potters trading from the cellar of the Park View Guest House. As interest grew, the collective expanded to include artists and makers across a range of disciplines including painting, weaving, woodwork, jewellery and more.
With growing membership and the decision to formalise as Mandurah Studio Co-operative Ltd, the group secured a new home at the historic Mudgee Railway Station. Through hands-on restoration efforts by members and their families, the co-op gradually expanded into four rooms, now proudly showcasing the diverse work of Mudgee’s local artisans.
Thanks to the vision of a few passionate creatives, the co-op continues to thrive as a vibrant hub for handmade art and craft.
